MA

Marina Akchurina is a co-founder of the Guide to Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators and a private practice lawyer with 17+ years of experience. Her practice focuses on international arbitration, complex cross-border disputes, and litigation before Russian commercial courts.

In her practice Marina relies on 14+ years of experience at international law firm Cleary Gottlieb where Marina took part in several complex commercial and investment disputes before a variety of judicial and arbitral bodies, including international arbitrations before tribunals formed under the ICC, LCIA, SCC and UNCITRAL rules, as well as in litigation matters before Russian courts. 

In addition to serving as counsel, Marina has sat as arbitrator in cases dealing with construction, sale of goods and works contracts both as sole arbitrator and a member of three arbitrators’ panel.

Marina is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), an ICC YAF Regional Representative for Russia for 2019-2021 and a member of the Steering Committee of CIArb European Branch Russian Chapter.

Marina holds a degree in law from State University - Higher School of Economics and Master of Law degree from New York University School of Law

Denis Almakaev is a co-founder of the Guide to Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators and a Counsel at Hogan Lovells. He is a triple-qualified lawyer (admitted in New York, England & Wales and Russia) with a focus on complex transnational disputes, both before state courts and in international arbitration.

Denis has extensive experience acting as counsel in international arbitration and in satellite proceedings before state courts, having represented his clients in wide range of civil law and common law jurisdictions, such as England and Wales, France, the U.S., Switzerland, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Monaco, Cayman Islands, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar and others. His practice also focuses on cross-border insolvency.  

Denis holds a degree in law from the Moscow State University and an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School. He is a graduate of the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy.

Denis is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London).

Izabella Kharlamova

Izabella Kharlamova is a co-founder of the Guide to Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators and a Special Counsel at Baker Botts LLP. She concentrates primarily on dispute resolution issues. Her practice focuses on international arbitration, including both commercial and public international law disputes. Izabella has acted as counsel in both institutional and ad hoc arbitrations (including under the SCC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL rules).

Prior to joining Baker Botts Moscow office Izabella practiced in the firm's London office as part of its arbitration team.

Izabella's 13+ years' experience in cross-border disputes includes advising sovereign states and companies in investment arbitrations, advising on sanctions related issues and other litigations.

Izabella holds a degree of Master of Laws, University College London and also a degree in law from Moscow State Linguistics University.

Olga Tsvetkova is a co-founder of the Guide to Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators and a Managing Partner at Brevia Law Offices. She specialises in complex cross-border disputes and related transnational matters.

Olga has practiced in Russia, Switzerland and the UAE, and acted as a counsel and an arbitrator in over 50 cases. She has advised states, companies and individuals in institutional and ad hoc investment and commercial arbitrations under UNCITRAL, LCIA, ICC, SCC, Swiss and other Rules, and managed legal processes across multiple jurisdictions. She has also counselled on drafting international contracts and interstate treaties.

Olga has been recommended by top legal ratings. She is a member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law.

Sergey Usoskin is a co-founder of the Guide to Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators and an advocate at Usoskin Arbitration. Sergey has sat as arbitrator in more than 50 cases dealing with construction, sale of goods and corporate transactions, including cases where he served as chair and sole arbitrator.

Sergey has appeared as counsel in arbitrations under the HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, SCC, Swiss and UNCITRAL Rules. He has advised clients on cross-border disputes involving proceedings in England, France, Switzerland, the US as well as major offshore jurisdictions. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of Russian courts in arbitration-related cases.

Sergey is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a graduate of the St. Petersburg State University and University College London (LL.M.).
